Projects Update and Cut the Cord

Needed to write an update on all of my current projects.

THE WEATHER STATION:

It’s up and running.  It is registered on http://www.wunderground.com.  Station ID is KTXTOMBA58. So far all the data and reporting is working out great. Its great knowing things as they happen around the house.  Maybe a webcam next.

CUT THE CORD FOR LOCAL TV:

I also recently installed a Tablo device (www.tablotv.com).  This device uses a HD antenna to get the local tv stations.  It provides an on-screen guide and DVR capability without cable.  It took a lot of trial and error to get the right antenna and location in the house to get good signals from all the OTA (over-the-air) stations.  Once the signals were right and a few updates, it looks and works great.  No pixelation of the show. Watch LIVE or recorded shows on my AppleTV….I love it.  Hopefully the wife will like it and I can eliminate the $100/month TV bill.
